11 Questions for Nine Year Sister

Something new for the blog! I ask artists/bands 11 questions! Not the usual ones, mostly simply fun ones to get to know our artists better!

I didn’t have to think a lot with who I should start. Our 3 times Artist Of The Year “Nine Year Sister” has to be the first!
Enough blablabla by me here we go with the questions!

This is Nine Year Sister! Jennie and Emma!

First some musical questions

1. Do you have a favorite song by Nine Year Sister?

Jennie: I don’t like to choose favourites, but ‘As Far As The Stars’ will always have a soft spot in my heart. It feels like the beginning of Nine Year Sister. It was one of the reasons we decided to compile an album to start putting music online. It felt like the heart of our first release.

Emma: Agreed. It’s funny, because it’s a suuuuper old one now, but it has a special place in my heart too. I think it’s partly because I remember the feeling I had when I was writing it, and it was such a good feeling. I was playing notes into the laptop using the QWERTY keys and I got so excited when I stumbled upon the little melody that the song begins with. The rest flowed after that and it was a really fun one to write, I was in a very magical and dreamy mood while writing.

2. Your favorite instrument?

Jennie: Probably piano, but guitar would be a very close second. I also have a real thing for strings (violin, cello), although I can’t play any of them. I’d like to have my own little string orchestra I could conduct.

Emma: Probably guitar, but when listening to music, I’m definitely drawn to the drums and bass lines in songs.

3. Tell us a place where you would love to have a gig

We think it would be so cool to have a gig overseas somewhere! We’d love to experience that at some point. We’ve never even taken our instruments on a plane, so a big travel trip for music would be a very new, exciting (and possibly terrifying) experience for us hahaha!

Now the non musical part

4. Pineapple on pizza. Yes or no?

Yes. Just yes.

5. Coffee or tea? Or even a peanut cappuccino?

Both! First thing in the morning, coffee. Then mostly tea during the daytime. We love a cuppa.

For the readers who don’t know what a peanut cappuccino is, we once posted a photo of Jennie’s failed latte art attempts (she was trying to do fancy heart designs and such things). Our fans were commenting what the shapes looked like and Oli thought one looked like it had a peanut on top. Hence, the peanut cappuccino was born.

Here the original peanut cappuccino!! You can see it, the second cup is it!!

6. Whats a talent of yourself which you are proud of?

Jennie: Peanut cappuccino art.

Emma: I can move my pinky toe independently of my other toes. Don’t really know if that’s unusual or even a talent, but Jennie can’t do it, so I’m claiming it.

7. Whats your favorite book?

Jennie: Currently…”The Velveteen Rabbit”. It’s a children’s story, but I only recently discovered it and I think it’s charming.

Emma: Little Women.

8. Tell us something you always wanted to do but havent done so far

Jennie: Go to a big music concert. We’ve been to lots of festivals with different artists in the lineups, but I’d love to go and see just one big artist at their own big concert. (Not sure who yet.) Or, write and illustrate my own children’s book.

Emma: See the Northern Lights in person! Or go in a hot air balloon!

9. Please end this sentence. In my free time I need…

Jennie: Headphones, and somewhere beautiful in nature I can just walk and walk.

Emma: Also headphones haha, endless cups of tea, fairy lights and relaxing spa vibes.

10. As you love to sing about the galaxy. Would you move to another planet? And which planet?

Yes. It would be whatever planet you’re on, Oli. Haha!

11. If you could ask Oli a question, what would it be? (I hope you dont regret this one ????)

When are you coming to Australia for an NYS concert and some backstage peanut cappuccinos?

Thank you Jennie and Emma for joing the 11 questions part! Some very interesting answers! Oh and I owe you some replies. Glad you would join me on any planet!! Actually I would love to be on one of the moons of Jupiter, just to enjoy the view from there! To your question: It would be awesome to see you this year, but one thousand words later I might have a plan b! But for real I so would love to see you live on stage and enjoy some peanut cappuccinos backstage with you two!
