It is time for another TFSC Insiders. This time it is all about researching for music. Why I personally think it is so important to do so!
Lets Begin at the Start!
When I decided to turn this station to a Indie Station I actually didn’t know any artist. I simply started to search for indie music. Back then there were several more platforms like CD Baby, Reverbnation, Bandcamp, Soundcloud and many more. It was pretty easy for me to find great music for the stations. For me it is heaven to research there. Do you know the feeling when you explore a song which you simply love? I have that always, get very happy. Researching on those platforms reminds me always of going to a CD store and simply spent hours there and listen to a lot of CD’s!

I Keep Still Doing It Because…
Why I keep doing it? There are a lot of reasons. As first because of the feeling I mentioned in the chapter before. This Cd store feeling. It is a pretty cool one.
Another reason is what if this certain band/artist would never submit to us? What would have happened I wouldn’t have found Nine Year Sister, Madison Olds, Mikalyn, Foxanne? Would they ever find me and submit music? Look at those names. All of them create pretty amazing music. So what if they never would have found me? You wouldn’t be able to listen to them on the station. Maybe you would never explore them by yourself! That would be a shame! They are amazing they have to be heard.
There are many more reasons, like I love to share music by bands who are disbanded. They still have to be heard. Music is for me nothing like new or old. No it is something you need to have around as long it is good!
Now the last reason before you get bored of this article! I personally think it gives a station the extra touch. There are so many stations out there. All of them recieve so many submissions and somehow play the same music then. Adding music you have found, music which you haven’t recieved by a promo agency, music which warms your heart too, this is the extra touch. It makes you stand out and listeners are able to maybe find another “cool favorite” band!
Don’t Get Me Wrong!
Don’t get me wrong. Those words aren’t against submissions. Submissions are important for a station. I have met so many great artists thanks to it. Have heard new music which I simply love. Plus you have to think it the other way around too, if I only would do researches who tells I would find exactly this band/artist who I learned to love their music thanks to a submission.
So the mix does it for me.
